Covert black ops and espionage take a back seat to zany personalities and relationships between secret agents and drones.
Season 5 is simply awful, it's not a "reboot"FX PR flaks are projecting it, but the reanimation of a corpse over and over. There are very few laughs now(that's being kind), the plot totally hackneyed, and the characters dull and pointless. The only interesting part of this season is to see which episode is going to be a bigger train wreck than its predecessor. Southbound and Down is actually so bad I might not be able to watch another episode again. In a few years, Season 5 will be studied in Film Schools to chronicle one of the biggest failures in Television History, and the perils of what can happen when you no longer care about your audience and just mail it in week after week for a pay check. How many elements and subplots of bad 70's & 80's TV shows can be regurgitated in one season? Anyone associated with this season needs to take a long look in the mirror and really think about what it means to be creative, original and entertaining, because Season 5 lowers the bar to a level that would make Soviet Propaganda Films Starring Joe Stalin more entertaining.
That's all I gotta say, Archer is EPIC. I can watch the same episode 10 times and never get tired of it. All the characters are hilarious.

The universe of Archer uses fashion and hairstyles from the early 1960s with a mix of 1980s architecture. Present-day technology suchsmartphones and the internetwellcurrent social values suchthe general acceptance of LGBT people and women in positions of power can also be seen in Archer. Countries that no longer exists today suchthe Soviet Union still clearly exists in the Archer universe. "The Cold War never ended" is the most accepted theory put forward by the show's creator which mean's that Archer is set in the present day but in an alternate timeline from our own.<br/><br/>
